Amaechi Speaks On Buhari’s Refusal To Convert Him To Islam

The Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, on Wednesday expressed gratitude toward President Muhammadu Buhari for not changing over him to Islam, saying he was misjudged and condemned for partner with the president.

Amaechi expressed this on Wednesday at the valedictory session of the Federal Executive Council.

The previous Rivers State Governor described how he was nearly driven out of Christ the King Catholic Church in 2014 for supporting the president, whom they asserted was attempting to Islamise the nation, NAN reports.

"Mr. President, let me thank you for not changing over me to Islam. I state that explicitly in light of the fact that in 2014 when I strolled into Christ the King Catholic Church, I was truly driven out of the congregation as a representative since I was blamed for supporting a man whose plan was to Islamise Nigeria.

"Also, in Rivers state they started to call me 'Alhaji Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi'. I thank you since they have dropped the 'Alhaji' and back to Mr Chibuike Amaechi,'' he said.

Amaechi said a few people at first imagined that the president would be an imperious pioneer just for him to end up being an "extraordinary democrat''.

"

"I was told over the span of the battle that you were despotic and thusly you would not be popularity based.

"A large portion of us are disturbed that you have moved from your despotic nature to an outrageous democrat that everything puts to trial of the general population, to the degree that the general population currently feel that the main way things can go on in this nation is by the standard of law.

"We as a whole realize that the standard of law is the start and the finish of this administration. Discussing the monetary exemption that we saw previously, individuals were profiting without having any beneficial limit with respect to that,'' he said.
